One of the most important courses in the public relations sequence at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication is J352, strategic writing and media relations. This course introduces students to some of the most popular writing tools used on a daily basis in PR.
Within the course we worked on different communication scenarios and practiced over and over again how to address the public, media, partners, etc. about communication needs, good and bad, in the form of news releases. In the research in communications course, J495, myself and group of my peers preformed research for the Saraha Nyingma Buddhist Institute (Saraha) in Eugene, Ore. Saraha listed a variety of communication problems it was facing. My group picked two of the major issues to focus on and came up with a strategic plan for how to best fix those issues. Here you can find the finalized plan that my group completed for Saraha. If you would like to learn more about Saraha including the teachings and services offered please visit its official website.
